Period Not Open as Scheduled

Symptoms
  • In the Manage Posting Period app, the scheduled posting period opening/closing did not run on the 1st day of the calendar month.
  • Posting periods remained closed despite an existing schedule.
Root Cause 1

Schedule was created under a consultant’s account that later became inactive.

Resolution 1

Assisted the client in recreating the posting period schedule under an active client user account.

Root Cause 2

SAP Upgrade Module Dependencies: The automatic posting period opening was affected by SAP upgrade module dependencies. Upgrade processes are scheduled over weekends (Saturday and Sunday), which prevented the automatic opening.

Resolution 2

Verified upgrade impact and re-triggered posting period opening; confirmed scheduling resumed normally.

Prevention
  • Create posting period schedules under active client user accounts only.
  • Ensure schedule is configured for all company codes.
  • After SAP upgrades, verify that key automated jobs executed successfully.
